WESTERN ASIATIC ACHAEMENID PALE ORANGE AGATE CYLINDER SEAL WITH JANUS 5th century BC

A pale orange agate cylinder seal engraved with frieze of a Janus headed male figure in long robes and wings, foot resting on back of ibex; in front a rearing ibex with two winged bull figures behind. 10 grams, 30mm (1 1/4").

Condition Very fine condition.

Provenance From the collection of a North West London gentleman; acquired in the 1980s.
